If you are serious about shedding pounds then you need to make sure that both your mind and body are up to the challenge.It doesn’t matter what age or sex you are, a weight loss program takes a lot of work and effort which coincidentally why so many people fail. They simply forget to take into consideration the effort involved in dieting.

So just what can you do to prepare yourself for a successful weight loss program? Well here are a few things that you are going to want to consider:

What Will You Be Doing To Exercise: You don’t have to become a bodybuilder or anything like that but you will need to exercise about 45 minutes per day at a minimum to ensure healthy weight and fat loss. You can start slow by walking or swimming, but make sure you get your exercise in. It’s vital to your fat loss success.

Think Green: No I’m not talking about electric cars. I’m talking about vegetables. You don’t have to become a vegetarian but you’ll be amazed how good the right salad and vegetable mix can be. With a salad and the right veggies you can be extremely creative. One of my best meals has become a grilled salmon salad with cranberries and light dressing. Give me a bowl of that with a few bread sticks and I’m good to go.

Sometimes It Takes Two: Find a friend, encourage a boyfriend girlfriend or spouse to commence a weight loss program with you. The challenge, inspiration and motivation can really help you lose weight fast.

Keep A Journal: Document your progress and your struggles. If you needed that brownie at 3AM then write about it. Write down what you were feeling, why you felt you needed it then read it the next day. Like I said earlier, losing weight is a journey that is as tough on the mind as it is on the body. Writing down successes and failures can really be a help to you.

Start Modeling: Well maybe you’re not ready for the runway anytime soon but start envisioning yourself in new clothes and start buying new clothes as soon as you can begin fitting into them. Nothing rewards the mind more than realizing that something has been accomplished. If you lose weight you deserve to replace those old fat clothes with those that suit the new you.

Don’t Starve Yourself: A diet isn’t starving yourself. In fact you should probably eat MORE than you did before you started trying to lose weight. It’s just that you’re eating better more healthy foods and exercising that allows you to eat more. 4-6 meals a day is what you should be shooting for.

Your body will become an efficient furnace so feed it the fuel to keep it burning. Don’t be surprised to lose weight in your sleep. Once you begin eating better, and exercising you body will increase its Basal Metabolic Rate and you’ll burn more calories at rest.

So follow these easy tips and you’ll be on your way to that lean body you desire.
