Fasting. Is It The Best Way To Lose Weight Fast?

Fasting. The Best Way To Lose Weight Fast? No way! As a quick way to lose weight, we have all heard of fasting. In most religions, it is believed to be a way for people to become more spiritually close to their deity. However, in today’s social world, we hear of people who say it is a great way to shed pounds quickly.
How could you not? Of course you will lose weight, nothing is coming into your body! But at what cost? Is there any damage possible to your body due to fasting? And if I lose 10 pounds in a week, will my body be so starved for food after that, that it will begin to slow it’s metabolism down to a crawl because it has been starved, and is in fat storage mode because it thinks it is starving?
These are very important points to consider if you are thinking of fasting for weight loss. Let’s start with the obvious. We all want to lose weight fast, who wouldn’t want that? At what cost, though? Are you willing to put your internal organs at risk for a quick fix? I think not.
The tried and true ways are still the most successful. Eating a meal with the right fats, the correct amount of proteins and vitamins is still the best way to reduce body fat, and who says it can’t happen fast? It’s up to you to make that happen.
When you deprive your body of food for more than one day, it is forced to dip into energy stores to get the fuel it needs to keep going. Our ancestors lived in a time when food was scarce, and so our bodies are genetically programmed to combat the effects of fasting. The less food you eat, the more your metabolism slows down to conserve energy.
The minute you go off your fast, your lowered metabolism has stored energy, which means that you will probably gain back the small amount you lost to begin with! On top of that, when you do start eating again, it is still in starvation mode, and even though you are eating the same amount of calories before the fast, your appetite hormones do not know it is back to normal, and you will gain even more weight possibly that before you fasted.
And the damage you can do to your organs is not worth the risk. Your organs need the nutrients daily to be able to maintain a healthy body. The foods you eat will give your organs all the nutrients it needs, IF it is the right and healthy types of food, that will not only make you shed pounds, but give your body the correct amount of nutrients, amino acids, and the many different things your body requires.
Staying healthy will make you have the energy and lifestyle you desire to maintain to live a long, strong life. I don’t think that fasting is the best way to lose weight…not by a longshot!
